TAWAU: Police have arrested a 35-year-old local man suspected of vandalising headstones at Kampung Sri Bombalai Muslim Cemetery on Friday.

The suspect was detained at a house near the scene at 2pm following a police report from villagers.

Authorities have investigated the motive behind the incident and warned against acts that cause public unrest.

The suspect has been taken to the district police headquarters for further action under Section 427 of the Penal Code for mischief causing property damage.
