SUV driver trapped in two-vehicle collision on Tamparuli-Ranau road

TUARAN: A 35-year-old man sustained serious injuries after being trapped in a collision involving a Toyota Avanza SUV and a Nissan Navara four-wheel drive at Jalan Tamparuli-Ranau, Kampung Kapa, Tamparuli, early this morning.

The accident occurred at around 3am, leaving the man with injuries to his body, while five other passengers in the same vehicle and the driver of the Nissan Navara suffered minor injuries.

District Fire and Rescue Station chief Mohammad Nor Amit said they received a distress call regarding the incident at 3.02am.

A total of 13 personnel, along with a fire engine and an emergency medical rescue services (EMRS) vehicle, were deployed to the scene, where they extricated the trapped victim using specialised equipment.

The victim was handed over to Health Ministry personnel for further treatment at Tuaran Hospital, while firefighters ensured the safety of the vehicles and surroundings before concluding operations at 3.50am.
