We must be in driver’s seat. Don’t let others decide for Sabah: Anifah
“Let us work together to help the Chief Minister and the Government achieve our goals," said Anifah.
Parti Cinta Sabah (PCS) President Tan Sri Anifah Aman said his party has yet to make any decision on contesting in the coming 17th Sabah Election (PRN17).

“We are currently more inclined to help Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) in facing the State Election this year since we are among components within the coalition,” he told a media conference after a Majlis Berbuka Puasa Invest Sabah Berhad, here, Friday.

The ceremony was also attended by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.

“It is not about seats now but whether the seats we contest can be won or otherwise,” said Anifah, who is also Invest Sabah Chairman.

“There is no use if we contest five, six, or 10 seats but do not win,” he added.

Anifah said PCS so far does not have any seat targets, but are discussing among themselves.

“We are looking for the best way forward because it is not about individuals or candidates, but everything is about the State,” he said.

When asked whether he plans to contest the Bongawan seat, the former Kimanis Member of Parliament indicated that he has not decided. Anifah contested for the Bongawan seat in the 16th Sabah Election 2020.

On another note, he said PCS believes Sabah should have its own rights in determining the State’s direction without depending on any party.

“However, we do not reject any cooperation if it can benefit the State.

“It is good for us to be in a local party, but if these coalitions can increase our chances of winning, why not?

“But most importantly, we need to be in the driver’s seat as the navigator. With this, we are not just following others. Do not let others make decisions for our State. So those in the peninsula must respect this,” he added.

Additionally, he said, Sabahans should support local leaders rather than those from the peninsula.

“Political stability can help Sabah’s economy continue to grow and attract more foreign investors.

“The success in attracting investments and strengthening the economy thus far depends on leadership stability and wisdom in managing available resources.

“Therefore, I would like to express my appreciation to the Chief Minister of Sabah for his leadership that has brought many reforms and developments to this State.

“We have a Chief Minister who prioritises work over publicity, and under his leadership, Sabah has recorded RM58.319 billion in investments.

“This will drive our economy while providing employment opportunities for our local children.

“Let us work together to help the Chief Minister and the Government achieve our goals.

“With these investments, it will certainly change the development landscape of Sabah where Sabahans will enjoy the flow of modernisation,” he said.

Anifah also congratulated all Board members, management and staff of Invest Sabah for their contributions toward bringing these investments to Sabah.

The event saw 40 orphans and Tahfiz students from Rumah Amal Kasih Kingfisher and Maahad Tahfiz Tuaran receive contributions from Invest Sabah, presented by Hajiji.

Also present were Sabah Electricity Chairman Datuk Seri Madius Tangau, who is also Tuaran Member of Parliament, High Commissioner of the Republic of Namibia Herman Pule Diamonds and Invest Sabah Chief Executive Officer Dr Firdausi Suffian.
