KUALA LUMPUR: The Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives, through Tekun Nasional in collaboration with TikTok Shop, plans to set up four new TikTok Shop Live Hubs this year.
Minister Datuk Ewon Benedick said the addition of these hubs would serve as a catalyst in empowering micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to boost their sales.
"We will enhance facilities to align with current needs, particularly online sales, for MSME entrepreneurs looking to increase their revenue," he told reporters after opening the second TikTok Shop Live Hub at the Tekun Nasional headquarters here today.
Also present were Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives deputy secretary-general Datuk Zamri Salleh, Tekun Nasional chairman Datuk Abdullah Sani Abdul Hamid and Tekun Nasional chief executive officer Datuk Adam Abdul Ghani.
Meanwhile, TikTok Shop Malaysia’s director of strategic partnerships Nur Azre Aziz said that through the TikTok Shop platform, entrepreneurs have generated RM2.3 million in sales, with more than 50,000 products sold.
She said that since the first TikTok Shop Live Hub opened in Penampang, Sabah, more than 30 entrepreneurs have conducted 76 hours of Live streaming, generating over RM63,000 in sales.
"Local entrepreneurs have received 1,200 orders from 1.2 million views through Live streaming since the TikTok Shop Live Hub launched in Kuala Lumpur on March 3," she said.
TikTok, she added, aims to help entrepreneurs build their brands through high-quality content, thereby creating alternative income streams for Malaysians.
The launch of the TikTok Shop Live Hub is expected to have a positive impact on Malaysia’s digital business ecosystem, drive more inclusive economic growth, and open new opportunities for local entrepreneurs, she said.
