KOTA KINABALU: The Tourism, Culture and Environment Ministry will meet AirAsia to discuss the airline’s decision to terminate five direct international flights to Sabah, the New Straits Times reported.

Minister Datuk Seri Christina Liew will receive a briefing from AirAsia’s top management in two days regarding the termination of routes from Kaohsiung, Kunming, Ningbo, Wuhan, and Manado.

She said the ministry remains committed to achieving Sabah’s target of 3.5 million tourist arrivals this year despite concerns over the impact of flight cancellations.

Sabah is also looking to expand its reach by tapping into all 10 Asean markets, with the state set to host the Asean Tourism Exchange Forum for the first time on June 17.
