Police identify drivers in viral Penampang-Tambunan road incident

PENAMPANG: The police have identified the drivers of the three vehicles in a viral video showing reckless driving along the Penampang-Tambunan road.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the incident occurred around 1.41pm on Sunday, involving three vehicles overtaking a lorry at a double-lined bend, forcing oncoming traffic to stop to avoid a collision.

All three drivers have been traced, and their vehicles have been brought to the Penampang District Police Headquarters for further action.

The case is being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, which carries a maximum penalty of five years imprisonment and a fine of up to RM15,000 upon conviction.
