Elderly woman reported missing found safe in Nabawan

NABAWAN: An elderly woman who was reported missing while fishing was found safe some 3km from their fishing location.

Operations Control Center (PGO) of the State Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) said they received a distress call from the victim’s husband, Monday, at about 2.25pm through the emergency line.

The Nabawan Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) control room received an emergency call reporting that the victim was feared missing while fishing at Sungai Saup, Jalan Batu 38, Tongod, on March 16 at around 6pm.

The fire department team was dispatched to the scene to gather information and conducted a search and rescue (SAR) operation using a Vigo vehicle and a Nadma boat.

The victim was found safe at 7.03pm by villagers, about 3km from where was she fishing.

She was then transported to the Nabawan Clinic in the fire department’s Vigo utility vehicle for further medical examination.

The operation ended at 7.25pm.

According to the caller (the victim’s husband), before the incident, he went after a squirrel from their fishing spot. When he returned about three hours later, he discovered his wife was missing.
