PUTATAN: The water supply in Putatan and southern Kota Kinabalu is set to improve with the completion of the Kasigui Urgent Water Supply Scheme (UWSS) in May, which will provide five million litres of water daily, said Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Shahelmey Yahya.

Shahelmey, who is also the Works Minister, said the Kasigui UWSS project is currently under construction as part of ongoing development initiatives in Putatan.

Speaking at an Iftar event with Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor at the Putatan District Mosque compound on Wednesday, he said the district is also seeing progress in housing, water supply, and other infrastructure projects.

Among key projects underway are the Putatan District Native Court, expected to be completed by year-end, and the new Putatan District Council Building, now in the construction phase.

Additionally, 61 houses under the Rumah Mesra Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) programme have been completed since 2022, with 40 new units planned this year, while the State Government has supported an application for 1,000 housing units under the Malaysian People's Housing Project (PRM) in Lok Kawi.
