LAHAD DATU: The Sabah General Operations Force (GOF) seized frozen food products worth more than RM800,000 and arrested four individuals in two operations in Beluran and Lahad Datu.
Sabah GOF Commander Datuk Abdul Rani Alias said the first was conducted by the Intelligence Unit of Company B of the 20th Battalion of Beluran GOF at a shop in Jalan Sapi Nangoh. He said the shop was found storing and selling frozen food products without a valid permit.
“Inspection on a lorry found a total of 146 boxes of frozen chicken,” he added.
During the raid, the team also detained a 67-year-old individual, believed to be the watchman of the products.
“The seizures worth an estimated RM228,509, including the lorry, as well as the suspect, were handed over to the Sabah Veterinary Services Department for further action,” he said.
The case is being investigated under Section 60(1) of the Animals Enactment 1953 (Amendment 2013).In the second raid on a premises in Lahad Datu, the GOF team detained three individuals and seized various frozen food products.
They also seized equipment and lorry, with the total seizures worth an estimated RM595,735.40.
The case is being investigated under Section 15(1) of the Animals Enactment 2015 and Rule 3 of Food Hygiene Regulations 2009.
