Syabu: Man faces trial on June 18
The offence under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act and punishable under Section 39A(2)(r) of the same Act which provides for between five years and a life imprisonment, and whipping at least 10 strokes, on conviction.
Kota Kinabalu: A man will be tried on June 18 this year for having 35.23gm of syabu.

Sessions Court Judge Elsie Primus set the date for Ali Rahman who maintained his plea of not guilty when his case was brought for mention on Thursday.

Ali is accused of having the drug at 8am on Sept 21, 2024 at a house in Rumah Murah Kepayan, near here.

Pending the date, Ali was ordered to be remanded further.

Meanwhile, in another court, ten people were sentenced to four months’ jail each for entering the State without any documents.

Kasma Inning, Rahman R Hawai, Dolpi Suaib, Saidy Ben, Nanang Amaral, Junady Nanang, Shafie Yusup, Chima Alim, Kukei Kulimbah and Musa Totoh, admitted separately before Sessions Court Judge Hurman Hussain, to the charge against them.

The ten were arrested in separate locations at Likas and Keningau areas this month during an operation carried out by the Immigration Department.

During the documentation process, the ten failed to produce their identification documents to the Immigration personnel.

In asking for leniency, the illegal immigrants told the court that they had stayed in the State without documents for several months and years.

They also asked to be deported to their country as soon as possible.

The court ordered the illegal immigrants to serve the jail sentence from the date of their arrests and referred to the Immigration Department after completing their jail sentence.

Prosecuting Officer Mohd Hairul Bona prosecuted the case.
