SANDAKAN: Police arrested two men and seized a total of 116.02 grams of syabu worth RM12,762 near a restaurant on Jalan Lintas Labuk Batu 8, here, Sunday.
Sandakan District Police Chief, ACP Ashmon Bajah, said both men were apprehended during a Crime Prevention Patrol at 1.50am.
“The police patrol unit initially spotted a suspicious white Mitsubishi Triton vehicle which upon inspection led to the arrest of the two men.
“The team also seized a large black plastic bag containing about 116.02 grams of syabu valued at RM12, 762,” he said in a statement, here.
The arrests and seizure are being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and Section 15(1) (a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
Meanwhile, a total of 20 summonses were issued for various offenses during an Ops Samseng Jalanan conducted by police together with the Department of Environment from March 22 - 23.
Ashmon said the 4pm to 2.30am operation held at several target locations involved 10 police officers and 10 DOE enforcement officers.
“Throughout the operation, police issued 20 summonses for various offenses, while the DOE conducted noise tests on 17 motorcycles and issued 14 directive notices under Section 48 of the Environmental Quality Act 1974.
“Of that total, nine were compounded under Regulation 4(2) of the Environmental Quality (Motor Vehicle Noise) Regulations 1987 for producing noise exceeding permitted limits,” he said.
