Football legend Rahim Abdullah dies at 77

PETALING JAYA: Former football player and national coach Rahim Abdullah passed away early this morning at the age of 77.

The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) said that Rahim, an ex-cop, had represented Malaysia in several international tournaments.

These include the South Vietnam Independence Cup and the Jakarta Anniversary Tournament, both in 1971, as well as the Merdeka Tournament in 1973.

Rahim had also represented Malaysia in the 1972 Olympics in Munich, Germany. In 2004, he was inducted into the Olympic Council of Malaysia’s Hall of Fame for his role in the 1972 Olympics football team.
