RANAU: The Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) through the Ranau District Police Headquarters (IPD) is tracking down a male suspect involved in a theft case involving the loss of RM3,000 here last Sunday.
Ranau District Police Chief P/Supt Mursalin Bin Mahmud said the incident happened at the Ranau Global Enterprise Mini Mart, Pekan Kundasang on March 23, at around 10.50pm.
The case is being investigated under Section 380 of the Penal Code and is being handled by the Investigating Officer, Sjn. Daryl Dominic Gukor Junior.
“Based on the closed circuit camera (CCTV) footage, an unknown man entered the premises pretending to buy goods.
“When the complainant, who is also the shop owner, went to the back of the premises, the suspect stole a white counter drawer containing RM3,000 before fleeing through the front door of the shop.
“The suspect is a man dressed in a black T-shirt, black trousers and a black cap, besides covering his face with a blue cloth to avoid identification,” he said.
The Ranau IPD calls on the public who have information related to this case to come forward to assist in the investigation by contacting the Ranau IPD at 088-875222 or reporting to the nearest police station.
“The police also advise business owners to increase security measures at the premises by installing CCTV, alarm systems, and regular surveillance to prevent such incidents from recurring,” he said.
