Early morning crash claims life of man in Sandakan

SANDAKAN:  A 38-year-old foreign man was killed in a road accident early Wednesday morning at Mile 33, Jalan Beluran-Sandakan.

District police chief ACP Ashmon Bajah said the victim was driving alone in a Perodua Kancil from Kota Kinabalu to Sandakan when the crash occurred at about 6.20am.

An unidentified vehicle from the opposite direction entered the victim’s lane while overtaking another vehicle, forcing him to swerve to the left shoulder and collide with a stationary Mitsubishi ASX.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, and his body was sent to the Forensic Unit of Duchess of Kent Hospital (HDOK) here for a post-mortem.
