Kota Kinabalu: Nominations are now open for the 2025 Junior Chamber International (JCI) Ten Outstanding Young Malaysians (TOYM) Awards, recognising Sabahan youth who have made outstanding contributions in various fields, including society, economy, technology and culture.
Organised by JCI Malaysia, hosted by JCI Miri, and co-hosted by JCI Lahad Datu, the nomination is open to Malaysians aged 18 to 40 until June 30, with the awards ceremony taking place in Miri, Sarawak.
Organising Chairperson, Candy Yong said the award features 10 categories, including Business & Economy, Political & Legal Affairs, Technological Innovation, Cultural Arts and Environmental Protection.
She said this initiative seeks to inspire more young people to actively engage in nation-building and demonstrate their leadership potential.
“By hosting TOYM in Sarawak, we aim to highlight the immense talent of young individuals from this region, giving them the visibility and opportunities they deserve,” Yong said at a press conference in Likas, here, Friday.
Minister of Industrial Development and Entrepreneurship, Datuk Phoong Jin Zhe said TOYM Awards serve as an inspiration for young Malaysians to dream big.
“It showcases the remarkable achievements of our youth, inspiring them to strive for excellence and make meaningful contributions to society,” he said, hoping more nomination from Sabah.
His speech was delivered by his Public Relations Secretary, Amos Thien.
JCI Senator honoree Datuk Adeline Leong, a 1988 award recipient, shared her inspiring journey during the press conference and encouraged young Sabahans to embrace leadership opportunities and use their influence for positive change.
“This award is more than just a recognition — it is a call to action to create a lasting impact in our communities and beyond,” she said.
Yong said the launch of the 2025 JCI TOYM campaign reaffirms JCI Malaysia’s commitment to developing young leaders who would shape a better future.
“This initiative serves as a powerful source of inspiration, motivating youth to step up, lead with innovation and drive meaningful change,” she said.
