Singaporean Mount Kinabalu climber carried down due to injury
Ridwan advised climbers scaling Mount Kinabalu to be extra careful during the current rainy season because the ground surface and rocks are more slippery than during normal weather.
RANAU: A 28-year-old Singaporean had to be carried down Mount Kinabalu after falling and spraining his left leg, Wednesday.

Head of Ranau Fire and Rescue Station Ridwan Mohd Taib said the incident happened at about 8.30am in Km 8.3 of the Mount Kinabalu climbing trail.

Upon receiving the emergency call about the incident through the Station Line at 8.30am, he said a group of six Mountain Search and Rescue Team (Mosar) led by Operation Commander PBB Mosar Feliks Taimin rushed to the scene.

“The victim was given initial treatment and taken down to Timpohon Gate using a Robinson Stretcher. The victim was then handed over to the KKM Ambulance to be sent to Ranau Hospital for further treatment,” he said.

“Always climb in groups, don’t walk alone and make sure to be attentive to what the guides advise us. This is so important in order to avoid any untoward incidents in the future,” he said.
