KUNAK: Police have identified three accident-prone areas along the federal route of Jalan Kunak-Lahad Datu, specifically at Km 22, 32 and 34.

District Police Chief Supt Sabarudin Rahmat said the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) classified these locations as high-risk due to factors such as steep, winding and slippery conditions of the road, particularly when it rains.

“These three locations have been identified as ‘black spots’ where accidents frequently occur. Drivers are reminded to adhere to the designated speed limits,” he told the Daily Express in conjunction with Op Selamat, which runs from March 29 to April 3 for the Aidilfitri celebration.

To ensure smooth traffic flow, traffic police officers will be stationed at key locations and will conduct patrols throughout Op Selamat.
