SANDAKAN: Sabah Umno fight contest all three Barisan Nasional (BN) State seats in the 17th State Election in the Libaran parliamentary constituency. Libaran Umno Division Chief Datuk Suhaimi Nasir said BN is determined to retain all the three seats.
Suhaimi, who is also Sabah Umno Information Chief cum Libaran Member of Parliament, said that while it remains unclear which parties would form BN’s coalition in PRN17, BN would not contest alone.
“Whether we collaborate with other parties or follow any future decisions, we will defend all three seats as they are traditional BN/Umno strongholds in the Libaran parliamentary constituency,” he said.
“Based on Sabah Umno resolutions, we are neither fully closing nor opening the door to collaboration with other parties,” he said.
He said Umno and BN in Libaran would firmly defend all three traditional seats in the upcoming PRN17.
Suhaimi said this at the Iftar Ramadan Bersama Kepimpinan Umno Bahagian Libaran ceremony at Aisyadelia Cottage, Batu 14, here, Friday.
Present were Sungai Manila Assemblyman cum Libaran Umno Deputy Chief Datuk Mokran Ingkat, as well as other Libaran Umno leaders.
Suhaimi and his wife, Datuk Nur Nazimah Hashim presented donations to orphans to bring them festive cheer for Hari Raya Aidilfitri.
Suhaimi also distributed zakat to Umno branch leaders and attendees.
Earlier, he urged all party members to work hard in preparing for PRN17, pointing out the need to continue fighting for the people’s welfare.
At the same time, they must also prepare for Umno’s coming conference, scheduled to begin on April 7.
Regarding the iftar gathering, Suhaimi said it helps strengthen camaraderie among attendees.
