SANDAKAN: Five individuals were injured in a road accident involving two vehicles, an Isuzu Dmax and a Proton Saga, at Jalan Batu 9, Sandakan late Saturday night.
The Sabah Fire and Rescue Department's Operations Centre received the emergency call at 11.12 pm, and a team from the Sandakan Fire and Rescue Station arrived at the scene in 17 minutes, approximately 11 kilometers from the station.
Upon arrival, all victims had already been extricated by members of the public. The fire department conducted clean-up operations and ensured the area was safe.
The five injured victims, including a 23-year-old male and four others aged between 16 and 46, received initial treatment from EMRS and Health Ministry ambulance personnel before being transported to Sandakan Hospital.
The operation, which was also assisted by the Health Ministry and the police, concluded at 12.22 am.
