SANDAKAN: The Jalan Buli Sim-Sim stretch which was closed following a rockfall on Thursday has reopened one lane to traffic on Saturday.
Earlier Saturday, Sandakan MP Vivian Wong visited the site and held discussions with the Public Works Department (JKR) and police regarding the traffic congestion in Kampung Sim-Sim heading towards the town due to the road closure.
She said further discussions will be held with JKR to find solutions to the issues.
“We understand the traffic congestion experienced by drivers.
“However, at the same time, we must think about everyone’s safety,” she said.
She also received latest updates regarding the removal and clean-up of the rock block.
She expressed gratitude to the police, Malaysian Civil Defence Force, Sandakan Fire and Rescue Department, JKR and other related agencies for their swift actions in ensuring public safety.
She also urged road users to be always cautious when passing through the area and not to drive recklessly.
