Chance to show GRS right choice: Chief Minister warns against sabotage and sponsoring of candidates in coming polls
Hajiji said the state government is doing its best to solve the problems faced by the people, including the water problem which is often used as a capital by the opposition.
KENINGAU: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji Haji Noor reminded all members of GRS component parties to give their undivided support to leaders chosen by the ruling coalition to be candidates in the coming State Election.

“I don’t want anyone to sabotage or not cooperate. If I find out that there are members, especially from GRS, who are not supporting GRS candidates, we will take strict action.

“I want GRS to continue to be strong and united and for members to strengthen unity among GRS component parties,” he said.

Hajiji said the state government is doing its best to solve the problems faced by the people, including the water problem which is often used as a capital by the opposition.

“The opposition often uses problems like water to say that we as a government have failed. Despite knowing that we have inherited this problem from the past.

“However, as a responsible government, we will try to solve these problems. But this is the opposition, they have no capital anymore,” he said at a Hari Raya gathering jointly with Kim Teck Cheong Consolidated Berhad at the Keningau Sports Complex, here, recently.

In RANAU, Hajiji warned leaders to avoid sponsoring their own candidates in the election.

Speaking during the Programme Jelajah GRS Zon 4 Ranau held at the Pentas Dewan Terbuka Pekan Kundasang, he said sponsored candidates would not be accepted as GRS candidates.

“We have to learn from our past political history. We must be united, there should be no sponsorship (taja-menaja) in Ranau. I don’t want to see that happen. If he is from Gabungan Rakyat Sabah but sponsors someone else (to become a candidate), we will not accept that person as our candidate.

“I want to emphasise here, as the GRS Chairman, this cannot happen,” he stressed, calling on leaders not to be divided anymore because many parties now set their eyes on the unity of GRS.

Hajiji said leaders must be smart in politics. “Enough of quarreling and being divided. Let us not be scattered anymore because many parties are now watching our unity.

“Let us show them that GRS is the choice of the people in Sabah who are made up of various races,” he said.

The programme, which was attended by thousands of supporters from GRS component parties such as Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS), StarSabah, Gagasan Rakyat and others, also involved hundreds of community leaders.

“We are the GRS State Government and we want to make sure that GRS wins in Ranau in all three State constituencies that belong to GRS. GRS is our party, a local party, our home, we take care of it,” he said.

According to him, this is the best opportunity for Sabahans to show outside parties that GRS is the right choice for Sabahans.

“We are highlighting GRS not by chance, we have been in power for more than four years and the proof of our achievements is quite great. We have achieved many so far.

“There are parties out there who say all sorts of things about GRS, but they do not see it as if they are blind. Some promise all sorts of things to attract votes but it is all just empty talk.

“We do not like to attack certain parties, but if they are exaggerating and making things up, we in GRS are willing to fight them. We will not let Sabah be given to those who are only good at talking but not good at working properly.

At the ceremony, Hajiji also presented Land Grants to 1,143 recipients in the three areas in Ranau involving more than 4,000 acres, an Initiative under the Pantas Programme established since 2011.
