“There is a need to improve Sabah’s accommodation quality to support its growing tourism industry, especially with the coming Visit Malaysia Year 2026.

“While Sabah currently has over 680 hotels and 26,000 rooms, the industry must grow in both quantity and quality, with a focus on friendly and efficient service to attract repeat visitors,” he said after witnessing a signing ceremony between Wyndham Hotels and Resorts and Capitol Hospitality Group Sdn Bhd (CHG), marking the launch of the first-ever Ramada by Wyndham Hotel in Kota Kinabalu.

The collaboration will bring the globally recognised Ramada by Wyndham brand to the region, offering modern accommodations and amenities for both leisure and business travellers.

The hotel aims to enhance Kota Kinabalu’s tourism appeal by catering to corporate guests while delivering an exceptional hospitality experience for tourists.

The ceremony, held on Monday, was officiated by Wyndham Hotels and Resorts Senior Development Director for Southeast Asia Pacific Rim, Eudo Chan.

He expressed confidence that the hotel would contribute significantly to the city’s tourism growth and strengthen its global reputation as a business and leisure hub.

Award-winning interior design firm Obsessive Compulsive Design Sdn Bhd will oversee the hotel’s design, promising a blend of modern elegance and comfort.
