KOTA KINABALU: Jentayu Sustainables Berhad is reaffirming its commitment to Sabah’s renewable energy future with plans for a 162-megawatt hydro project in Sipitang through its subsidiary, Oriole Power Sdn Bhd.
Executive Chairman Datuk Beroz Nikmal Mirdin said Project Oriole has the potential to generate up to 110 per cent capacity and is targeted for commissioning by mid-2029.
The green energy initiative is a joint venture with Yayasan Sabah, with Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB) also onboard as a partner.
Speaking at Jentayu’s Hari Raya open house here Wednesday, Beroz also highlighted the success of Telekosang 1 and 2, which have been reliably powering Sabah’s grid at 24 sen per kilowatt-hour.
He stressed that Jentayu is proudly Sabah-born, with its headquarters in Kota Kinabalu, and is driven by a mission to stabilise the grid and support local industry growth.
Oriole Power CEO Saridah Mohd Dun was also present.
