Kota Kinabalu: Sabah Umno Secretary Datuk Jafry Ariffin said the party always keeps its doors open, welcoming former allies to rejoin for a more glorious and united future for Sabah.
His comments came following the announcement of former Sabah Bersatu Secretary Abdul Kadir Abdullah Damsal’s return to Umno, which Jafry described as a reflection of Umno’s fundamental strength and ongoing commitment to serving the people.
“As Sabah Umno Secretary, I respectfully and appreciatively welcome this return. It not only reflects the strength of Umno’s struggle, but also reinforces our spirit and determination to continue moving forward together for the people and our beloved State,” Jafry said.
The Sukau Assemblyman said now is the right time for unity under Umno and Barisan Nasional’s banner, echoing previous calls made by Datuk Seri Salleh Said Keruak.
“Only Umno and BN have proven capable of restoring the country’s long-damaged political stability, while ensuring sustainable and inclusive development continues,” he said.
Jafry pointed out how political division has only brought losses to the people and appealed for former members to set aside differences.
“We have witnessed ourselves how division only brings losses to the people. Therefore, I humbly call for all of us to set aside our differences and strengthen once again the ranks of struggle that we once built together,” he said.
When announcing his resignation on Tuesday, Abdul Kadir, who had quit the post of party secretary last year, said his decision to return to Umno was inspired by the belief that the party had a proven track record in governance.
He also said Umno contributed a lot to Sabah’s development during the 14 years when it was under the leadership of Tun Musa Aman, who had served as Chief Minister then.
