SANDAKAN: Police here uncovered the sale and use of vape liquids suspected to contain dangerous substances in a recent narcotics operation, Ops Tapis Narkotik.
The concerning discovery was made during raids conducted from April 7 - 8 at Bandar Prima and Bandar Indah Jaya, Batu 4, here.
The operation led to the arrests of three men and the seizure of syabu as well as vape liquids suspected of containing narcotic substances.
Sandakan District Police Chief ACP Ahsmon Bajah said the arrests were part of an ongoing operation that began on March 29 targeting drug trafficking and substance abuse in the district.
Other key locations included Kg Tinusa 2, Kampung Air, Jalan Utara Batu 3, Kampung Kombo, Bandar Nam Tung, Gum-Gum Batu 16, Taman Sri Taman and the Sandakan Town Centre.
Throughout the operation, 18 individuals comprising locals and foreigners were detained for various drug-related offences.
Ahsmon said they are committed to combating drug-related crimes in the district, particularly the emerging trend of substance abuse through vape liquids.
