TAWAU: A motorcyclist was seriously injured after being hit by a Perodua Alza that had earlier crashed into an electric pole along Jalan Chong Thien Vun around 6pm on Wednesday.

District police chief ACP Jasmin Hussin said the 28-year-old victim is currently receiving treatment at Tawau Hospital, while the 41-year-old car driver was unharmed.

He said the accident occurred when the Alza driver, en route to the RTM quarters from Jalan Mawar, is believed to have lost control and veered into the opposite lane, striking the pole.

The vehicle then collided with the motorcyclist, who was heading home to Taman Dahua 6 after work.
