TAWAU: A 27-year-old local man was arrested by police on Tuesday evening after allegedly going on a parang-wielding rampage against his family at a house in Taman Sri Titingan.

District deputy police chief Supt Champin Piuh said the suspect was armed with a 22-inch machete during the incident, which occurred around 6.30pm.

The suspect's aggressive behaviour reportedly caused fear among his family members, prompting his younger brother to lodge a police report.

Following the report, police arrested the man around 8.18pm the same day and seized a sheathed machete believed to have been used in the incident.
