Four Lahad Datu villages hit by flash floods

LAHAD DATU: Heavy rain on Thursday resulted in flash floods in several villages in the district.

Among the villages hit are Kg Segama, Kg Cocos, Kg Sri Payung and Kg Pancuran.

Heavy rain started at 3pm and the water began to rise at about 4.30pm. The main road at Batu 5, Jalan Segama, is impassable to small vehicles.

Flash floods often occur in the affected villages when it rains continuously.

Segama Assemblyman Datuk Mohamaddin Ketapi had raised the flash flood issue in the State Assembly sitting, but no action had been taken.

Mohamaddin had requested the government to find the best solution to flooding which is the main concern for the people, especially during the rainy season.
