TAWAU: A 30-year-old foreign man was arrested by police after allegedly injuring his friend with a machete while intoxicated in an incident at Merotai Besar on Thursday.
Tawau Deputy Police Chief, Superintendent Champin Piuh, said the 49-year-old victim sustained injuries to his hand, right arm, back, and body after being slashed by the suspect.
According to him, the incident occurred after the victim received a phone call from the suspect, who wanted to meet to settle a matter.
"However, upon arriving at the meeting location, the victim was attacked by the suspect, who was drunk at the time, using a machete," he said in a media statement on Friday.
He added that the victim, who was traumatized by the incident, sought treatment at a nearby health clinic.
