Firemen clean mercury spill in a Chinese school
Six JBPM personnel led by Senior Fire Officer II Azlan Awang Ki, arrived at the scene within 10 minutes.
TAWAU: A mercury spill incident at a science lab of Sabah Chinese School here at 11.38am on Thursday was due to a broken thermometer.

Six Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) personnel led by Senior Fire Officer II Azlan Awang Ki, arrived at the scene within 10 minutes. No casualties were reported.

The Hazmat Unit, led by Assistant Fire Supt Mohamad Hannis Mokhtar, decontaminated the area using sulphur powder and declared the site safe, concluding the operation at 12.27pm.

In a separate incident, villagers prevented a house fire from spreading in Kampung Tanjung Batu Laut around 11am the same day. About 8pc of the house kitchen was burned.
