KOTA KINABALU: Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) is experiencing water supply disruption affecting several residential college blocks at its main campus due to low water levels in the R13 tank.

The Sabah State Water Department (JANS) identified high water usage and water theft in neighbouring areas as contributing factors to the reduced supply of campus tanks.

The R13 tank also supplies water to external locations, including the Sabah State Assembly building, PPNS, Federal Offices, Alam Mesra, Likas Women and Children’s Hospital, and surrounding housing areas.

Water pressure began recovering at 2am on Sunday, with three million litres successfully pumped into the tank, following enforcement actions against illegal pipe connections near nearby squatter areas.

UMS is working closely with JANS and relevant agencies to manage supply and alternative sources while advising students to conserve water and stay updated through official university channels.
