Man fined for stolen properties
The charge under Section 411 of the Penal Code carries a jail term of up to five years or a fine or both, on conviction.
Kota Kinabalu: A 43-year-old man was fined RM2,500 or jailed three months by the Magistrate’s Court here Monday for having stolen properties.

Yazrie Mohamad pleaded guilty before Magistrate Marilyn Kelvin to having a set of Ford Raptor keys and a set of Toyota Vellfire keys, both with remote controls belonging to Chong Che Vun, on April 4, this year, at 10.50pm, in a unit at Block Q of University Apartment here.

The court was informed by the prosecution that Yazrie was arrested by police following a police report by the complainant that his house was broken into and several properties including the said car keys.

In another case, a 23-year-old man was charged with making threats with the aim of frightening a woman last year.

Amni Amin pleaded not guilty to committing the offence against Beatrice Elyana by stating,“Memang aku viral gmbrmu (I’ve made your photo go viral),” intending to scare her and cause distress.

The offence allegedly took place on Dec 8, 2024, at 4.48pm, at Plaza Utama rented room in  Alamesra.

The charge under Section 506 of the Penal Code carries a jail term of up to two years or a fine or both, on conviction.

The prosecution in applying for pre-trial case management (ptcm), proposed bail at RM5,000. Counsel Lim Ming Zoong @ Lawrence, representing Amni, requested a lower bail amount.

The court fixed June 5 for ptcm and released the accused on a bail of RM1,600 in two sureties.
