TAMBUNAN: The Tambunan Division of the Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (Gagasan Rakyat) welcomed the recent announcement of the Group Insurance Scheme to benefit approximately 3.5 million people in Sabah.
Its Division Chief, Datuk Victor P. Paut, expressed his gratitude to Sabah Chief Minister, Datuk Seri Hajiji Haji Noor, and the State Cabinet for this initiative, which will benefit all citizens.
“On behalf of the people here Tambunan, I welcome this Insurance Scheme because it brings hope to 3.5 million Sabahans who will be able to enjoy its benefits,” he said when met at the Gagasan Rakyat N.39 Tambunan Hari Raya Aidilfitri Open House, held at the community hall here on Saturday.
Recently, the State Cabinet approved the Group Insurance Scheme, which will benefit approximately 3.5 million Sabah residents aged between one month and 80 years.
Eligible individuals will automatically receive free personal accident insurance coverage of up to RM10,000, along with a death benefit (khairat kematian) of RM500.
State Finance Minister Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said the personal accident coverage will be provided free of charge to all eligible recipients.
He said the insurance coverage will be implemented through the state-owned company, Progressive Insurance Berhad.
At the event, Victor presented food basket donations to 1,000 recipients, including senior citizens, and persons with disabilities (PWD), among others.
He also handed over financial contributions to 28 mosques and suraus across Tambunan—marking the third consecutive year Gagasan Rakyat Tambunan has made such contributions.
In the same event, Victor also presented financial aid to three of the party’s oldest members, with two aged 102 each and a 99 years old respectively.
In addition, Victor distributed duit raya to all the children at the Tambunan orphanage.
Also present were Gagasan Rakyat Tambunan Women’s Chief, Datuk Amelia Ajun; Tambunan PBS Division Chief, Datuk Daniel Kinsik; Gagasan Rakyat Bingkor Division Chief, Datuk Jasri Mat Jakir; and other leaders from the Tambunan division’s Women, Youth, and Young Women’s (Beliawanis) wings.
