Baby’s body found at Lahad Datu roadside stall
The baby was believed to have died before being found.
PETALING JAYA: The body of a baby boy, wrapped in cloth and placed inside a box, was discovered at a roadside stall in Batu 13, Jalan Jeroco, Lahad Datu, yesterday.

Lahad Datu police chief Dzulbaharin Ismail said the baby was discovered by a passerby at around 2pm.

He said the baby was believed to have died before being found, Harian Metro reported.

“The body has been sent to the Lahad Datu Hospital forensic unit for a post-mortem,” he was quoted as saying in a statement today.

Dzulbaharin said the case is being investigated under Section 318 of the Penal Code for concealing a birth and disposing of a body, punishable by up to two years’ imprisonment, a fine, or both.
