Duo charged with assaulting man with walking stick
The duo were jointly charged under Section 324 of the Penal Code, which carries a jail term of up to 10 years or a fine or with whipping or with any two of such punishment, on conviction.
Kota Kinabalu: Two men were charged in the Magistrate’s Court here with assaulting a man using a walking stick as a weapon.

Wong Chian Kiun, 42, and Md Aryan Choo Abdullah, 35, pleaded not guilty before Magistrate Wan Farrah Farriza Wan Ghazali to voluntarily causing hurt to Yap Siaw Dick’s arms and legs with a walking stick.

The offence allegedly took place on March 27, this year, at noon, in a house at Taman Sinar, Mile 2 1/2, Jalan Tuaran, here.

The duo were jointly charged under Section 324 of the Penal Code, which carries a jail term of up to 10 years or a fine or with whipping or with any two of such punishment, on conviction.

Lo Hon Kiong, who appeared before Magistrate Marilyn Kelvin, pleaded not guilty to voluntarily causing hurt to Emilliah Lampongan, 44, on March 26, this year, at 10.45am, at the DLIA Saloon, Donggongon town.

The charge under Section 323 of the Penal Code carries a jail term of up to one year or a fine of up to RM2,000 or both, on conviction.

Prosecuting Officer Inspector Yusdi Basri in applying for a pre-trial case management (ptcm) proposed bail at RM5,000.

Counsel Lim Ming Zoong @ Lawrence representing Lo, requested a lower bail amount.

Lo was offered bail at RM1,500 in two sureties pending ptcm on June 5.

In another court, a 43-year-old woman was fined RM1,000 or jailed three months for disposing of stolen gold jewellery.

Norsia Abdullah pleaded guilty before Magistrate Dzul Elmy Yunus to committing the offence by pawning a stolen gold necklace belonging to Hamidah Hijau on April 10, this year, at 4.15pm, at a pawn shop at Block F, Segama, here.

The charge under Section 414 of the Penal Code provides for a jail term of up to seven years or a fine or both, on conviction.

Inspector Mohamad Hamidi Mohamad Hamzah in tendering the facts of the case informed the court that the said jewellery was stolen from the complainant’s house at 4.30am, the same day.
