Kuala Lumpur: The prosecution has undertaken to make convicted former Goldman Sachs banker Roger Ng available for an interview with Najib Razak’s legal team.

The undertaking was tendered by deputy public prosecutor Kamal Baharin Omar at the former prime minister’s 1MDB trial in the High Court here today.

“We need a specific date from the lawyers on when he (Ng) needs to attend court (if he has to testify),” said Kamal.

Lawyer Shafee Abdullah, representing Najib, said the defence would have to meet Ng first. “We will call him as a witness if deemed fit,” he added.

He was repatriated to Malaysia in October that year to assist local authorities in their bid to recover 1MDB assets.

According to Bukit Aman, Ng is still in police custody as more information is needed from him in the ongoing investigation into the recovery of 1MDB assets.
