Kota Kinabalu: ON behalf of local youths in Papar, Juil Nuatim appealed for the construction of a district sports complex in the district to be included in the 13th Malaysia Plan.
He said Sabah currently has 19 sports complexes and 151 multipurpose courts in rural areas but Papar still does not have a sports complex.
“What we do have is a six-lane synthetic track at Padang Pekan Papar, which was only opened to the public in December 2023.
“While the community has made full use of this track for recreation and sports, larger sporting events still require them to rely on sport complex facilities in neighbouring districts like Beaufort or Penampang.
“That is why I am appealing to the government to build a district sports complex in Papar to be included in the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP).
This would be a strategic long-term investment in youth development — helping to identify athletic talent, promote healthy lifestyles and foster unity among our future leaders,” Juil said
