Muis receives RM2 million zakat from Lembaga Tabung Haji
According to Mohd Na’im, the zakat contribution reflects TH’s commitment to fulfilling its religious obligation and ensuring that corporate zakat is effectively distributed to eligible recipients.
Kota Kinabalu: Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH) presented business zakat amounting to RM2,042,284.93 for the financial year 2024 to the Sabah Islamic Religious Council (Muis).

The zakat handover ceremony was officiated by Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs), Datuk Dr Mohd Na’im Mokhtar, and witnessed by the Head of State, Tun Musa Aman.

“We hope this zakat can be fully utilized by the asnaf community through transparent and fair distribution by Muis.

He also said the courtesy visit aimed to extend a formal invitation to Tun Musa to officiate the upcoming Convocation Ceremony of the Sabah Islamic Studies and Dakwah Institute (Ipdas) at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) on August 11.

The convocation will be the first to be held outside the IPDAS campus and will be preceded by the Forum Perdana Hal Ehwal Islam the night before.

On preparations for the upcoming Hajj season, Mohd Na’im said pilgrims from Sabah are expected to begin their journey to Holy Meccah starting May 17.

“Malaysia has received an official Hajj quota of 31,600 pilgrims, while the application for additional quota is still being reviewed by the Saudi Arabian government.

So far, we’ve received over 85,000 appeals from Malaysians hoping to perform the Hajj. We remain hopeful that the additional quota will be approved to accommodate more waiting pilgrims,” he added.

Also present were Muis President Datuk Seri Yahya Hussin, State Mufti Datuk Bungsu @ Aziz Jaafar, Jakim Director-General Datuk Dr. Sirajuddin Suhaimee, TH Sabah and Sarawak Regional Director Datuk Hajah Nurlaila Said, and other officials.
