Closure of slip road: DBKK to seek the best solution
Kota Kinabalu: City Hall (DBKK) will work closely with relevant agencies to study and examine the best solution regarding the closure of the slip road at Lorong Seroja 1, here.

DBKK, in a statement Saturday, said taking into account complaints and feedback from the public, it will reopen the bollard barrier that was installed at the slip road, starting April 20 (Sunday).

It said the decision was made unanimously through a meeting of the Special Technical Traffic Committee on the installation of barriers at the Lorong Seroja 1 junction to Lorong Bunga Melur, Taman Fortuna, held on April 18.

The meeting was also attended by representatives from the Public Works Department (JKR), City Branch and the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) (Traffic Branch).

In line with this, DBKK will conduct a joint technical site visit with JKR and PDRM at the said location in the near future.

The visit aims to conduct more in-depth assessment of safety aspects, traffic flow and alternative routes that road users may use.

In the meantime, road users in the surrounding areas are advised to prioritise safety and drive cautiously when using this slip road to avoid any untoward incidents.

DBKK urged all parties not to make any negative comments or statements regarding the issue that could disrupt the harmony of the local community and residents.

Previously, DBKK had closed the slip road at Lorong Seroja 1 by installing a road barrier to prevent its use as a shortcut.

This action was taken after several public complaints about near-miss incidents.

Furthermore, from a technical standpoint and based on existing planning records, there is no officially approved exit road in the said area.
