Sabah Bersatu demands revenue transparency and fiscal rights
KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Bersatu is calling on the state government to enforce stricter revenue transparency from companies and federal bodies operating in Sabah.

Its women's chief Rahimah Majid proposed making audited financial statements a legal requirement for business licence renewals, targeting firms like Petronas and major plantation companies that pay federal taxes outside Sabah.

The move, she said, would help the state independently verify revenue figures and claim its constitutional right to 40pc of federal revenue collected from Sabah, as promised under the Malaysia Agreement 1963.

Her call follows the federal government’s failure to provide revenue data despite repeated requests.

Rahimah also suggested forming a joint audit committee with independent oversight and called for legal reforms to compel disclosure from federal agencies and GLCs.

She urged the Sabah Government to act decisively and for all Sabahans to support efforts to protect the state’s financial rights.
