339.1gm syabu: Man to know fate May 23
On Nov 20, 2024, Sangdesar claimed trial on the charge under Section 39B(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which carries a punishment of either the death penalty or life in prison and whipping with a minimum of 15 strokes.
Kota Kinabalu: A 37-year-old man, who was charged with trafficking 339.1gm of syabu, will learn on May 23 whether he will have to enter his defence or be acquitted of the charge.

High Court Judge Datuk Dr Lim Hock Leng fixed the date for ruling at the close of the prosecution’s case against Sangdesar Bunjing.

The prosecution rested its case after calling a chemist, its fifth and final witness.

Sangdesar is accused of committing the offence at 12.45am on Feb 12, 2024, inside a Perodua Kancil parked in the vicinity of the Pos Aviation Warehouse car park, here.

Meanwhile, two men were charged with attempted theft.

Hairey Justrey, 27, and Alvin Victor, 31, pleaded not guilty before Magistrate Marilyn Kelvin to attempting to steal gearbox oil belonging to Pembinaan Jasen Sdn Bhd from a lorry on April 12, this year, at 11am, at the lorry parking area in Taman Flamingo, Manggatal.

They were charged under Section 379/511 of the Penal Code.

The court set June 9 for pre-trial case management and released the accused on a bail of RM1,700 in two sureties each.
