TUARAN: The search and rescue (SAR) operation for 5-year-old autistic boy, Muhd Aniq Faiz Muhammad Ashraf, missing since Sunday in Kampung Bahagia Dua, Tamparuli, has been expanded to a 5km radius.
Tuaran Police Chief Supt. Noraidin Ag Maidin said the third day of the operation began at 6am and now covers land, hills, and the Tuaran River.
“No clues have been found so far. Updates will be provided as the search continues,” he said.
Tuaran Fire and Rescue Chief, Mohd Nor Amit, said 12 personnel including three K9 unit members are involved, supported by one fire engine, a boat, and four 4WD vehicles.
Additional teams from Kota Kinabalu, Lintas, and Putatan are assisting, including water rescue (PPDA) units. The SAR operation also involves police, marine police, APM, NGOs, drone teams, and local volunteers.
Tuaran MP Datuk Seri Wilfred Madius Tangau visited the site, with his office supplying food and drinks to the rescue teams.
The child was last seen around 1.30pm on Sunday. A family member noticed his absence, and only his toy doll was found in the yard. Authorities were alerted soon after.
