BEAUFORT: A house in Kampung Suasa was completely destroyed in a fire on Tuesday, leaving one male occupant injured while attempting to rescue others.
The victim, identified as Sailin Kanalan, sustained burns during the incident and was subsequently taken to the Padas Damit Clinic for medical treatment.
According to Beaufort Fire and Rescue Department chief Ishak Jabas, the department received an emergency call at 3:15 p.m. and promptly dispatched eight personnel along with a fire engine to the scene.
“Upon arrival at 3:47 p.m., firefighters found the 30-by-40-foot structure already 90 per cent destroyed by the fire,” he said.
Several vehicles were also consumed by the flames, including a Proton Iswara, Proton Saga BLM, Nissan Vanette, and a Modenas Kriss motorcycle.
Another Modenas Kriss motorcycle sustained approximately 10 per cent damage.
The cause of the fire and the estimated value of the losses are currently under investigation.
