KOTA BELUD: Deputy Chief Minister II, Datuk Seri Dr. Joachim Gunsalam has urged villagers not to sell their ancestral land, but to preserve and develop it as a valuable legacy asset, especially for the Kadazan, Dusun, Murut, and Rungus (KDMR) communities.

Speaking at the presentation of 205 land titles under the Sabah Native Land Survey Programme (PANTAS) in Kampung Tambatuon, he stressed that owning land is one of life’s most important assets.

He also commended the Lands and Surveys Department for their efficient work, clarifying that PANTAS only applies to cultivated land with no ownership disputes. He called on village leaders to help identify such land accurately.

Dr. Joachim noted that some applicants have waited up to 10 years for approval and urged complete and orderly submissions to speed up the process. He reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to helping Sabahans gain land ownership through various initiatives.

He also called on villagers to support the ruling Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) coalition in the upcoming state election, saying, “Choose a government that truly serves the people.”
