SANDAKAN: Police arrested a foreigner who went on a rampage while armed with a machete in the Bandar Indah area on Monday.

Sandakan District Police Chief ACP Ahsmon Bajah said a team from the MPV and URB patrol units of the Sandakan District Police Headquarters responded to information received at around 11am, reporting a man behaving aggressively at the location.

He said the suspect aged 27 was apprehended and a 70cm-long machete, including the handle, was seized.

The suspect has been remanded, and the case is being investigated under Section 6(1) of the Corrosive and Explosive Substances and Offensive Weapons Act 1958, as well as Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63, he said.
