LAHAD DATU: Voters and residents in Lahad Datu are urged to support the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) coalition, led by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, in the coming State Election (PRN) for the sake of stability and development of the area.
Silam Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (Gagasan Rakyat) Division Chief Datuk Mizma Appehdullah said development in Lahad Datu has been somewhat delayed as the area is currently represented by opposition leaders.
“We understand that the Lahad Datu parliamentary seat is held by an opposition party representative, and naturally, they do not have the allocations needed to provide the best services.
“This is certainly a loss for the district when it is not represented by a government elected representative,” she said at a Hari Raya Aidilfitri open house here.
Mizma said the GRS-led Government should be given the opportunity to implement more initiatives to develop the area.
She said GRS is seen as a platform capable of bringing the State and the district towards positive change through political stability and a clear direction.
She said change is very important even though it cannot happen all at once, gradual improvements will ensure that people can live better lives.
“When we talk about allocations for a district, it does not mean that once we are in government, everything will happen immediately.
“Everything must go through the proper procedures, and it may take some time to channel all the allocations across Sabah,” she explained.
Mizma stressed that political differences should not be an excuse for failing to provide the best service to the people.
She said when it comes to matters concerning the people, all differences should be set aside so that the public do not suffer.
“Like today, I am pleased to see leaders from opposition parties present, because although we differ in ideology, our goal remains the same — to serve the people,” she added.
