Teacher acquitted of sexual harassment charge involving male pupil
KOTA KINABALU: A 45-year-old primary school teacher was acquitted of a charge of physically sexually harassing his 11-year-old male pupil without his defence being called.

Sessions Court Judge Elsie Primus ruled that the prosecution had failed to establish a prima facie case against the accused, Rosle Basas.

Rosle was alleged to have kissed the cheeks of the pupil in a classroom in January 2024, an offence under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017.

The prosecution, led by Deputy Public Prosecutor Nurul Shafeerah Mad Iskim, had called five witnesses including the alleged victim.
