KOTA KINABALU: A motorcyclist died in a road accident at Jalan Kepayan near the Aeropod flyover here around 10.25pm on Saturday.

District police chief ACP Kasim Muda said the initial investigation revealed the victim, riding a Honda motorcycle from Putatan towards the city centre, had lost control and crashed.

He sustained severe head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by a medical officer at 10.33pm.

Police have opened an investigation paper under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 and urge witnesses to come forward.

Kasim reminded the public to practise safe driving as road safety is a shared responsibility.
