Body of missing man found after suspected crocodile attack in Sipitang

SIPITANG: The body of a missing man was found on the fifth day of a search and rescue operation along Sungai Megalong in Kampung Banting here.

The victim, identified as 52-year-old Punggut Madin, was believed to have been attacked by a crocodile while fishing with friends on May 1.

He was reported missing after disappearing from sight while pulling in a fishing net, prompting a multi-agency SAR operation led by the Sipitang Fire and Rescue Department.

His body, found in an incomplete state by a member of the public about 2.3 kilometres from the incident site at 12.20pm on Monday, was recovered following confirmation by rescue personnel.
