SANDAKAN: The duties and responsibilities of the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) are not merely physical obligations but also encompass a deeper spiritual dimension, stressed Sandakan District Police Chief ACP Ashmon Bajah.

He made the statement during a Christian prayer ceremony held in conjunction with the 218th Police Day celebration at the Good Shepherd Church on Sunday.

According to him, public safety and order do not rely solely on human efforts, but are also entirely dependent on divine guidance and protection.

He quoted Psalm 127:1, “Unless the LORD watches over the city, the guards stand watch in vain,” to illustrate the security force’s total reliance on divine power.

“The role of police officers in maintaining order and upholding the law is part of a calling and responsibility ordained by God,” he said in his speech, which was also attended by church leaders and members of the Christian community in Sandakan.

Ashmon also expressed his appreciation to religious institutions that continuously pray for the safety and wisdom of the police force in carrying out their duties.

He also called on everyone to pray for courage, integrity, and wisdom for all members of the PDRM, while strengthening the close relationship between the police and the community, in line with the slogan “The police and the community are inseparable.”
